A Road of Faith
Times of refreshing are not just happenstance...
FAITHDREAMSENCOURAGEMENT

I had a dream last night. Sometimes I know that I am dreaming within the dream. Usually, when this happens, it’s because I see in the dream that God is trying to show me something specific. So, as was the case this time, I begin to analyze it while still in it.
Before me was a river and vehicles were driving in it. Cars and SUVs. Not just crossing it but going through it lengthwise. Traveling with the flow. Despite the depth of the water, they were traversing it just fine. I found this peculiar and that was when I questioned, while I remained still dreaming, what it was that I was watching. “How are they driving in this river so easily?”
The Lord took my perspective higher and I saw a long, wide, white colored line within the water. I realized this line was concrete. Hidden under the water was a road.
The Lord showed me that this was the faith that we travel in our walk with Him. That despite what the world saw in our circumstances, beneath the surface is the faith that allows us to move in places and difficulties others cannot survive. Or even comprehend why we smile with joy despite our moments of pain or struggle.
Then He took me to a more distant view, and I saw that the river was actually on the side of a man-made lake. One so built by a dam. Every now and then, the spillway of the dam opens extra wide, and the water would drop low enough for the maintenance people to come and inspect and make repairs of the roadway.
From time to time, God leads us into places where our faith is adjusted and strengthened. Often referred to as “times of refreshing”. Moments that are clearly His doing in our lives. Like healings and visions and prophetic words. And things in the flesh like financial boosts and gifts of great importance and connections that are otherwise impossible. These moments serve to build our faith for places where we cannot see the road. For those moments when life is extra hard.
We need to recognize His work that brings extra blessing as times that are part of His promise. And remember, those become our testimonies. Which, when used properly, will stop the enemy in his tracks. He hates it when we glorify God!
You may not have something to praise God about today. I know, we should always have something, but sometimes it’s hard. As I said, sometimes we can’t see the road beneath the water (AKA, the garbage of life) but reminding ourselves that He has proven that it is there time and again will help us to drive through the water that seems to be too deep!
Times of refreshing are not just happenstance. It is God building our faith so we can continue forward when things are falling apart.
